Car lights

11th August 2024

A lot of people are complaining about being dazzled by the new LED car headlamps, which they say can make night driving hazardous. We all develop cataracts as we get older, which is part of the problem but people with other eye conditions can also be affected. There is some good news. Thanks to Baroness Hayter, a member of the House of Lords, the RAC and the College of Optometrists, the Government has pledged to commission an independent study to look into this problem. You may see glasses with yellow-tinted lenses being sold for night driving but these are not always safe to wear. Today, glasses can made with special anti-dazzle coatings which can help for night driving.
